Tools of the Trade
In his workshop at Oritalia, Sergio has an extensive collection of artisan tools that he can bring into play when it comes to jewellery repairs. To restore a piece to its original value, he uses the same tools as the jeweller who made the object. Thanks to his long career, during which he has mastered different types of production, he can also follow the same processes that originally produced the piece. He can thus avoid changing the shape or quality of a piece of jewellery that you want to restore.
Sometimes, clients want to alter a piece of jewellery that is not otherwise damaged. For instance, a certain actor came to Sergio to ask that he solder a gold neck chain such that it could never be removed. In this case, Sergio had to “operate” on the neck chain while it was being worn by its owner, taking great care of the neck while respecting the jewellery – all the more so, since it would forever be on view. The actor, Michael Douglas, continues to wear Sergio's handiwork around his neck – a tribute from one talent to another.
